Blizzard Entertainment has revealed the mechanics of dropping valuable game items in a number of its MMO projects. Getting standard prizes increases the chance of knocking out rare rewards in the future.

If a gamer in Hearthstone or Heroes of the Storm gets a loot box (a set of game content) without an item of epic or legendary rarity, then his chances of finding such a prize in the next loot box increase proportionally, and the effect is summed up.

Information about the mechanics of obtaining and the probability of dropping items of varying degrees of rarity in Hearthstone, Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm was published on the official Korean forum on July 14.

The chances of getting different loot are as follows:

Hearthstone

  • There will be at least one rare card in each card booster.
  • Approximately one in five card boosters will have one epic card.
  • Approximately one in 20 card boosters will have a legendary card.

Heroes of the Storm

  • One loot box contains 2.9 common items and 1 rare item-
  • Approximately one out of 4.5 loot boxes will contain an epic item.
  • Approximately one of the 17.5 chests will contain a legendary item.

Overwatch

  • There will be at least one rare item in each loot box.
  • Approximately each of the 5.5 loot boxes will contain an epic item.
  • Approximately one of the 13.5 loot boxes will contain a legendary item.

It is noteworthy that for the Overwatch team MMO shooter, no similar system was announced to increase the chances of game rarities after receiving standard loot.

Question to those developers who have loot boxes in their games. How do you generate output?
