A few days ago, a new version of the two-dimensional Corona game engine was released. Among the central innovations of version 2018.3326 is support for Facebook Instant Games and Direct Games in VKontakte.
Now the HTML5 functionality of Corona has moved into the open beta stage. Representatives of the engine assure that games developed on Corona in HTML5 format do not require much time to prepare for release on several platforms.
“Launching HTML5 as a new platform has been a priority for our team since the deal with Appodeal. We see huge potential in instant games using HTML5 technology,” Stepan Solovyov, CEO of Corona Labs, said in connection with the announcement.

In addition, the head of the engine’s product team, Vladimir Shcherban, noted that in the update, the developers managed to reduce the size of the service libraries in the application to 1 MB.
This is very little compared to other solutions on the market.
In addition, the developers stated that they are set to transfer Corona to the category of open source engines. Already after the current release, several libraries with shared access have appeared. When the engine will completely “move to new rails” — it is not reported.
