Square Enix has moved the development of the Final Fantasy VII remake inside the company under the leadership of Naoki Hamaguchi, who previously created the Mobius Final Fantasy mobile role-playing game.

Hamaguchi himself told about this during the YouTube broadcast.

“Until recently, the development of Final Fantasy VII Remake was mainly carried out by external partners. Now Square Enix is returning the production of the game back to the company in order to better control the quality and timing of work. We will form a reliable system that will allow us to complete the task on time,” Naoki Hamaguchi said.

The statement was preceded by an announcement about hiring additional employees to the development team of the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, posted on the Square Enix website.

The worldwide release of Mobius Final Fantasy on iOS, Android and Windows platforms took place in 2016. At the beginning of 2017, the game has been downloaded over 10 million times.
