At the beginning of this year Vyacheslav Makarov left Wargaming to get involved in politics. However, he has now announced his resignation from the Direct Democracy Party, of which he was one of the founders.Makarov’s departure became known yesterday on the official website of the Direct Democracy Party.
He will leave the post of General Secretary, which he has held since March, and the election of a new head will be held on December 5.
“I have always considered it my task to launch the party itself in every sense of the word, from gathering like-minded people to official registration with the Ministry of Justice. We have managed to fulfill this task — the party exists, it lives an active political life,” Makarov said.
According to him, he never had plans for long-term political activity. He considers the key successes of the “Party of Direct Democracy” to be participation as observers at the electronic voting held in Russia this year, as well as the creation of an expert group that worked with the developers of the remote electronic voting system (DEG).
Makarov has worked in Wargaming for more than 10 years, including as the product director of World of Tanks. He also said earlier that he was not going to leave the game dev completely. Perhaps, after leaving politics, he will return to development again.
