24 thousand developers attended a conference held last week in San Francisco.

Compared to last year, the number of participants increased by 9%. The record number of visitors for GDC is probably due to the rapid growth of the indie community.

During GDC 2014, more than 400 reports were read (we talked about some of them on the pages of app2top). About 350 companies presented their products to the public. The Museum of the History of Video Games has offered a retro exhibition dedicated to Nintendo.

The GDC also hosted the Game Developers Choice Awards. According to its results, Lucas Pope, the author of Papers, Please, was recognized as the best indie developer. Lucas received a standing ovation from the audience, a Seamus McNally award and $30,000. At the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony, last year’s PS3 exclusive The Last of Us by Naughty Dog became the “game of the Year”.

Next year, from March 2 to 5, the event will be held there, at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.
