Ghost Recon Breakpoint goes down in history. Ubisoft has no plans to develop the project, as well as to make new NFT content for it.
This became known yesterday, April 5, from a message on the official Ghost Recon Breakpoint Twitter account.
In it, the developers thanked the players who bought NFT in Ghost Recon Breakpoint, saying that they “left a mark on history.”
For now, the purchased items will remain with the users. By the way, there were not many of them. The experiment with NFT in Ghost Recon lasted three months. A total of 67 items were purchased at the site during this time, eight of them in March
Despite the modest results, Ubisoft announced its intention to continue working with NFT in other projects.
Recall that the main value of NFT is the ability to use purchased items in other games. At the time of publication, it is unclear whether it will be possible for owners of items from Ghost Recon Breakpoint to get them in other games of the company.
The studio’s decision caused confusion and discontent on the part of the players. Moreover, it only reinforced the skepticism with which the appearance of NFT in Ghost Recon Breakpoint was met earlier.
In general, today many developers are critical of NFT in games. For example, the founder of Hazelight, Josef Fares, previously stated that “he would rather get a bullet in the knee than add tokens to his games.” The famous game designer Warren Spector called the whole concept of NFT ridiculous.
