There are very few days left before the Google I/O conference, at which the search giant is likely to make several high-profile announcements at once, so there is nothing surprising in the appearance of rumors about various new services. One of them will definitely be Google Play Games.

Judging by the information of the authors of Android Police, who have unearthed data about the service, Play Games is an analogue of Game Center on iOS. It will have multiplayer, a leader board, achievements, as well as support for cloud saves. The service (or, more precisely, the gaming platform) is part of the Google Play Services update.

According to Dean Takahashi with Venture Beat, the appearance of the new service will increase virality on Google Play, as players will be able to share their achievements with friends from Google+. However, how much it will be in demand is a big question when the same can be done with Facebook.

In any case, it’s good that it will be possible to enable and disable game alerts and control who can and who can’t send them to you. Among other things, it is quite possible that an in-game chat will appear.
