- 45% of Indian residents started playing games during the first wave of lockdowns last year as an alternative to other leisure activities;according to a survey by Niko Partners, many Indian adults have found a new way of social interaction in games — they like the opportunity to communicate with relatives and friends in online titles;
- Last year, India became the leader in the number of game downloads — 7.3 billion, which is approximately equal to 17% of all game downloads in the world;
- the Internet in India has also become much more accessible — last year, the average monthly volume of Internet traffic per person in India increased by 20% and amounted to 13.5 GB;
- the availability of mobile Internet and the spread of gaming applications like Steam made gaming more accessible and led to an increase in the number of mobile players;
- As a result, there are 697 million Internet users in India today – more only in China (almost 1 billion).
