Twitch users spent 15.2 million hours watching Teamfight Tactics gameplay in the first week since the game’s release. Thanks to this, the novelty of Riot Games can be called not only the most popular autobattler, but also one of the most popular games of recent times.
According to Newzoo, in the debut week, the performance of Teamfight Tactics on Twitch turned out to be six times higher than those of Dota Underlords. However, the 2.3 million generated by Valve’s new product is a very high result for any game that has just appeared on the market.
The comparison of Teamfight Tactics and Dota Underlords using the GitHyp service reflects not only the great interest in the creation of Riot Games on the part of players, but also the negative dynamics of Valve development.
Teamfight Tactics has been showing consistently high online results since its launch. Dota Underlords, in turn, cannot boast comparable results and is losing its audience. Newzoo predicts that Teamfight Tactics will remain the most popular autobattler in the near future.
By the way, analysts expect the appearance of new games in the genre. But they are sure that most of them will be based on existing IP addresses. Given the competition in the niche and minimal differences in mechanics, developing a new franchise is unlikely to be a good step.
Newzoo also noted that China will be the main market for the new genre.
