YoYo Games has decided to change the payment options of the GameMaker Studio 2 game engine. They became easier to understand.

GameMaker monetization is much cheaper in rubles
As of today, developers officially have two commercial options instead of three:

  • Indie, which allows you to export a build for desktop, mobile, web or UMP. It will cost $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year;
  • Enterprise, which makes it possible to compile builds for all game consoles. The price of the issue is $79.99 per month or $799.99 per year.

How was it before?

It is not so easy to answer this question, given the regularity of the monetization of the engine. For example, until recently he had three subscriptions, and before that he had the opportunity to purchase both a permanent version of the engine for PC and to get a subscription to a dual annual license for Xbox / PlayStation.

It’s easier now. All price tags began to obey a single logic.

Recall that this is the second announcement regarding the monetization of GameMaker Studio for the season. In July, the developer company announced that the engine now has a free version that is not limited by either the time of use or the functionality within the package (you can do anything except export builds). Before that, there was only a trial version, limited to one month of work.

Changes in monetization can be primarily associated with the appearance of a new owner at YoYo Games. This January, the author of GameMaker was acquired by Opera.
