Millennial Media has presented a report on the American mobile device market for the first quarter of 2013. There are some interesting figures. For example, did you know that 25% of iPad users have an Android smartphone?

Smartphones

But it is, a fun fact (about them at the very end). We are mainly interested in the leading devices in terms of the number of advertising views. In the first place, without surprises, iPhones with 20.41%. Moreover, according to analysts, their share of views, compared to the previous quarter, increased by a significant 28%.

In second place is the flagship Samsung Galaxy S line with 8.71%. The growth of advertising views from it was 19%. Most likely, we will see a significant increase here in the next quarterly report. The release of the Samsung Galaxy S4 will affect. Yes, amazing results for hefty Galaxy Note devices – an increase in views in three months – 67%. In the USA, they love everything big.

Surprisingly, despite the loud funeral of BlackBerry by the press, the company’s devices are still showing good results. For example, BlackBerry Curve accounted for 3.26% of all Millennial Media views from smartphones.

Tablets

Curiously, the top three leaders of Millennial Media among tablets have not changed in a year. The fourth place is much more interesting.

Actually, as you can see in the picture, Asus is playing the violin here. The number of advertising views from Google Nexus 7, produced by a Taiwanese company, increased by 126% in the quarter. This is a good growth, moreover, it is better than the Kindle Fire (125%).

The general situation looks like this:

Platforms

If we talk about the number of views across platforms, then the main change here is the loss of half of the views of BlackBerry OS. It still has a significant share – 7%, but this, of course, is no longer 14%, as in the first quarter of 2012. Due to it, the shares of all other market participants have increased.
