The Japanese company Konami has released a report for the fiscal year ended March 31. Konami’s profit has almost halved, the company sees the reason for this in the cessation of the growth of the mobile market and its stabilization.
Konami’s revenue for the reporting period amounted to ¥226 billion ($2.27 billion), which is 15% lower than in the previous year. Profit decreased by 42.8% to ¥13.2 billion ($130 million).
To a certain extent, the company explains the deterioration of the financial situation by the cessation of explosive growth in the segment of social and mobile games. It is reported that the number of registered users by the end of the fiscal year exceeded 35 million, and in its last quarter this audience increased by only 1 million. This figure is the lowest since September 2010. Nevertheless, the company did not provide separate figures on mobile and social revenues in its report, although the figures were announced earlier.
