Apple has issued an indefinite injunction. Now the company has no right to prohibit developers from inserting links to other payment methods into iOS applications.
Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, who is leading the Epic Games case against Apple, today, September 10, made a final decision on the case. She ruled that Apple no longer has the right to prohibit developers from posting links to alternative payment methods in applications.
The ban will come into force in 90 days, on December 9, unless, of course, it is canceled by a higher court.
Recall that Epic Games sued Apple on 10 counts. Of these, only this one was satisfied. On the remaining 9 issues, the judge accepted Apple’s position. For example, Rogers disagreed that Apple was violating antitrust laws.
A year ago, the confrontation between Epic Games and Apple began with an update for Fortine, which allowed users to pay the publisher directly, bypassing the Apple payment system.
