The Ministry of Health of Russia is preparing a package of amendments to the law on the rights of the child. The innovations will make it possible to conduct an examination of computer games for the “possible risk to the mental health” of children. If such a risk is detected, the games will be banned for distribution.
This is reported by RBC with reference to the portal of regulations.
The risk in the document indicates those cases when games (desktop and computer) depict:
- actions that pose a threat to the life and health of children;
- violence and cruelty towards people or animals;
- consumption of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, tobacco products, alcoholic beverages;
- scenes of sexual violence, pornographic nature, sexual relations;
- prostitution, vagrancy or begging;
- participation in gambling;
- cases of death in a form degrading to human dignity, injury, illness, accident, accident or catastrophe and (or) their consequences;
- cases of insulting religious feelings of believers.
Authorities, public associations and citizens will be able to initiate the examination. It should be made at the expense of the applicant.
The examination, according to the package of amendments, will be conducted by “experts of federal state budgetary institutions determined by the federal executive authority.”
In the event that the game is recognized as risky for children, a decision will be made to suspend its distribution.
