Yes. Wargaming has had its own launcher for a long time.
It’s called Wargaming Game Center. This is a client that allows you to install one of the games of the Belarusian company on a PC. Wargaming compares the client with Steam or Battle.net , working on the same principle.
Simply put, if a user wants to play World of Tanks, World of Warships or any other game published by the company on a PC, he should first install and launch Wargaming Game Center.
What’s the news?
The situation with the launcher will change soon. It will make available for download not only published Wargaming projects, but also games of third-party teams. In other words, Wargaming on PC will become a digital distributor.
There are no details about the innovation yet. It is only reported: “Wargaming will take on the tasks of distributing partner products through its channels, promoting them, and ensuring work with payment systems.”
Also in a press release dedicated to the appearance of third-party games on Wargaming Game Center, it is noted that the main feature of this type of cooperation is access to 200 million audience of the company.
A new store?
While a wide range of games on the site should not be expected. Wargaming says that only those games that the company’s audience may be interested in will get into the store. In other words, the CA of third-party games should coincide with the CA of World of Tanks.
However, such a step on the part of Wargaming will still strengthen competition in the market of stores. Recall that now is also preparing for the world release of MY.GAMES Store, an updated version of the old launcher Mail.Ru Group, where third-party games are also now planned to appear.
Wargaming promises to share additional news about the initiative on September 15, as part of the event “Wargaming Fest: Tanker Day”. It will be held in Minsk. It is expected that 200 thousand guests will visit it.
