Odnoklassniki launches a contest among mobile HTML5 developers. They promise traffic, money and possible investment from the outside Mail.Ru Game Ventures. Thus, the social network wants to increase the range of projects on its mobile gaming platform.
The competition is called OK Instant Games Cup and is positioned as a developer championship. Games for the contest will be accepted from September 3 to October 21 inclusive.
There will be only two nominations, each with three places.
The first nomination is called PRO. It is for experienced developers whose specific work has not previously been published on Odnoklassniki. 1 million downloads are promised for the first place in it (update from 04.09: all traffic will be organic through the promo tools of Odnoklassniki).
The second nomination is New Star, it is aimed at those companies whose games have not been published on social networks before. Here the prize for the first place is more modest — 300 thousand rubles.
In addition to the awards, Odnoklassniki promises that producers will take a closer look at the top ten projects Mail.Ru Game Ventures. They say, maybe someone can get an offer after participating.
The situation with the contest is not surprising. Now both Odnoklassniki and VKontakte are actively looking for projects for their HTML5 platforms. Social networks hope that HTML5 games will become one of the important monetization channels for them.
