Oculus will close the Story Studio, which created the short VR films Lost, Henry and Dear Angelica.

Story Studio was founded two years ago. According to the head of Oculus content division Jason Rubin, the work of the creative association was supposed to inspire traditional filmmakers to pay attention to the possibilities of VR.

Now that mission is accomplished, and Oculus intends to focus on supporting third-party developers instead of producing its own VR movies.

To do this, the company creates a fund of $ 50 million. Jason Rubin noted that in addition to monetary funding, Oculus is ready to help aspiring VR directors with video tutorials, give recommendations on production and distribution, and provide an opportunity to contact leaders in this field.

Rubin also promised to leave the Story Studio’s developments open to VR enthusiasts, including assets for the short film Henry and other materials.
