The search giant has decided to take up the practice of awarding the best Android applications – Google Play Awards. The first ceremony will take place on May 19 as part of Google I/O.
There are ten nominations within which awards will be given. Five applications apply for each. Google has acted here in a rather original way, breaking down the nominations mainly not by application genres, but by more general criteria:
- the most outstanding startup (Standout Startup);
- The most outstanding indie project (Standout Indie);
- Best Family App (Best Families App);
- the best use of “material” design (Best Use of Material Design);
- Best Use of the Google Play Services package (Best Use of Google Play Game Services);
- the best innovators (Early Adopter);
- the best project in terms of localizations (Go Global);
- the most innovative project (Most Innovative);
- best App (Best App);
- the best game (Best Game).
Games are presented in many formally non-gaming categories. In the nominations “the best use of the Google Play Services package” or “the best family application”, they prevail at all. As for the games, Alphabear, Clash of Kings, Clash Royale, MARVEL Future Fight and Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes are fighting for the title of the best.
