Another company decided to leave Russia. Now Autodesk, the developer of 3ds Max and Maya, has announced a temporary shutdown.

We will also continue to fully comply with all applicable sanctions. We are monitoring the development of the situation and in case of new sanctions, we will consider the introduction of the following restrictions for our regional business,” the company said in a statement.
At the end of the statement, Autodesk also indicated that it would make a donation to the Red Cross and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. If one of the employees also decides to support Ukraine and transfers money to humanitarian organizations, the company will send twice the amount there.
We talked to several Russian employees of Autodesk about what is happening in the company now.
According to the employees, they roughly understood where everything was going. For example, some time before the incident, the head of one of the departments advised to write an application for an advance — as a result, they were able to receive money a couple of days ago, instead of March 15, when they usually do.
Nevertheless, the news about the suspension of the company’s work in Russia came as a shock to both employees and customers.
It is also unclear what awaits the Russian division of Autodesk in the future: “Managers told us that the offices will not be closed. But what people will do, how much they will pay, and how long everything will last — no one knows yet,” said an employee of the company.
Important: it is also unknown whether Autodesk tools will continue to work for those who have purchased licenses. Even the company’s employees have no information about this.
