Mobile apps for iOS that have not been updated for a long time, as well as those whose names are too long, will be removed from the App Store.

Apple займется удалением некачественных приложений из App Store

The Apple company will start cleaning its mobile app store on September 7. Similarly, Apple decided to contribute to solving the problem of their findability.

Two types of programs will be deleted by the company.

Firstly, those that either no longer work as they should, or do not comply with the latest App Store guidelines (in fact, old “abandoned” programs that are not compatible with the latest versions of iOS).

Secondly, those applications whose names have more than 50 characters will be deleted. The fact is that some of the developers “in the hope of influencing the search results” used very long names, which, as a rule, had nothing to do with a specific program.

For example, the popular Slotomania has the full name as follows: Slotomania Free Slots Casino Games – Play Las Vegas Slot Machines Online to Bet, Spin & Win Big.

The removal process will look like this: from September 7, Apple will start sending out letters to developers asking them to update the application. After receiving the letter, the authors will have 30 days to update. However, those applications that crash at startup will be deleted immediately.

The names of the applications and after removal will remain with the developers.
