The release of the latest beta of Xcode 6, which includes the SDK for iOS 8.2, took place. The main feature of the latter is WatchKit, a set of tools for developing applications for Apple Watch.

The information available from the announcement confirms the worst fears regarding the Apple watch company. The fact is that the Apple Watch is not a self-sufficient product.

At the moment when you launch the application on your watch, an extension is activated on the iPhone, which launches the same application on the smartphone in the background. It is responsible for updating the UI and “prescribes” responses to user requests. In other words, it is responsible for the operation of applications on the Apple Watch.

What a watch can do without a smartphone, other than flaunt the UI, is not entirely clear.

You can listen and watch more about the work of WatchKit here.

Recall that the Android watch, which has the same problem (they are useless without a smartphone), never fired. Anyway, there are already games for them in Google Play.
