The platform "Yandex Games" is attempting to strengthen its position in the market for services related to topping up Steam accounts. To do so, it has temporarily included a negative commission when transferring money through the platform to the game store.
During the promotion, the commission is -1% of the deposited amount. For example, if a user deposits 99 rubles, 100 rubles are credited to the account. If 1000 rubles are deposited, the Steam account owner receives 1010 rubles on their account, and so on.
For context: in the Russian market, the average commission typically ranges from 5-8% depending on the platform. Through banks, it's generally more expensive—commission rates can reach the 10-12% range.
Yandex itself, apart from "Yandex Games," has several solutions allowing money transfers to Steam. For instance, the "IgroMir" service charges 6%, Team Yandex Store — 4.2%, and "Yandex Pay" — 14%.
Against this backdrop, the negative commission could prove to be a successful marketing move. However, everything will depend on the commission rate after the promotion ends, which runs until October 23.
Representatives of "Yandex Games" during a discussion with App2Top are not yet ready to disclose the future commission rate.
