We could not pass by the announcement of the sequel to one of the most popular games in the world (recall that DAU Counter-Strike on PC consistently holds above 1 million).
So, Valve has officially announced that it is working on Counter-Strike 2. Moreover, the game is close to release. Its launch is scheduled for the summer of 2023.
The project is being developed on Source 2 (for example, Half-Life: Alyx was created on it). In this regard, both the physically correct operation of the smoke and a new approach to lighting have already been announced.
Valve understands its audience perfectly, so in a series of videos dedicated to the announcement, I mentioned that:
▫️tick rate, features that are primarily important for esports players, will improve;
the old maps will change visually, but this does not mean that it will be necessary to change all the proven strategies;
modders will get a wide pool of tools for experimenting and creating new content.
And, yes, Counter-Strike 2 will not be distributed separately. It will be released as a free upgrade for CS:GO.
