During this new round of business changes, Ubisoft has decided to close two studios: the Serbian Ubisoft Belgrade and the Canadian Ubisoft Winnipeg. Additionally, Ubisoft Barcelona will be reorganized to focus exclusively on the Rainbow Six franchise.
Ubisoft San Francisco and Ubisoft Montréal studios will also be affected. The former will undergo mass layoffs impacting "dozens" of marketers, engineers, and other specialists. At the latter, 170 employees will be removed from working on Rainbow Six Siege and Rainbow Six Siege Mobile, but instead of being laid off, they will be reassigned to other projects.
In total, Ubisoft will part ways with 380 employees. Considering that as of March 31, 2026, the company employed 16,590 people, the new layoffs will affect about 2.3% of its workforce.
Ubisoft explained that it recently analyzed its gaming portfolio and determined that it needed to make a "level of activity adjustment." Ultimately, the company hopes that the restructuring will reduce costs and streamline processes, benefiting in the long term.
