It has become known about another studio affected by layoffs at Ubisoft. Ubisoft Abu Dhabi underwent reductions.

Growtopia

Initially, the wave of layoffs was reported by the portal Game Developer, which noticed LinkedIn posts from former employees of Ubisoft Abu Dhabi. Later, this information was confirmed by an official Ubisoft representative in a comment. According to the representative, the layoffs in Abu Dhabi took place back in November 2025 and affected a total of 29 specialists.

For Ubisoft Abu Dhabi, losing 29 employees is a significant number. The studio's website states that about 60 people are employed there, and if you believe the archived Wayback Machine resource, this line in the team description hasn't been updated for many months. Therefore, it's quite possible that as a result of the reductions, Ubisoft Abu Dhabi's staff could have nearly halved.

The Ubisoft representative added that Ubisoft Abu Dhabi also halted work on some games. Now it will focus on developing the multiplayer "sandbox" Growtopia.

Let us recall, Ubisoft began mass layoffs three years ago after launching a cost-cutting program. According to the company's financial reports, from September 30, 2022 to September 30, 2025, its employee count decreased by approximately 3,600 people. This number continues to decline actively — in January 2026, Ubisoft already announced layoffs at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm, as well as the closure of Ubisoft Halifax.
