The US actors' guild SAG-AFTRA has decided to boycott the game League of Legends. They are dissatisfied with the actions of Formosa Interactive, a company assisting Riot Games with the title's voice-over work.

In an official statement, the Guild reminded that in July it announced a strike against several major gaming companies. Shortly after this, the Guild claims, Formosa Interactive tried to shield one of the games it was working on from the strike. Formosa Interactive allegedly transferred the game to a shell company and requested that it seek only non-Guild actors for it. The Guild described such behavior as a "flagrant violation of US labor law" and as discrimination against union workers.

Which particular game Formosa Interactive sought to shield from the Guild’s strike is not mentioned. League of Legends was chosen for the boycott because it is one of the most popular games in the company’s portfolio. Besides this, Formosa Interactive has contributed to Helldivers 2, Apex Legends, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Genshin Impact, several parts of Call of Duty, and many other games.

In a response statement, Formosa Interactive denied the Guild's accusations. Riot Games, in turn, stated that League of Legends was not the game for which they allegedly tried to find non-Guild actors. Riot Games added that the actors' protest will not affect the animated series "Arcane," which is being created based on League of Legends.
