Yesterday, the Russian government officially submitted to the State Duma a bill on the creation of a so-called “single app store”. If it is accepted, then this store will be mandatory pre-installed on smartphones sold in the country.

The text of the bill appeared on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As officials explain, the main task of the bill is to provide Russians with familiar services in the face of sanctions. They also indicated that the store will include applications from the list, which will be approved by a special agency.

Rumors that the authorities are working on a bill on the Russian app store appeared in mid-May. As Kommersant reported at the time, the document referred to the RuStore store from VK.
