At the end of July, Sony for the first time lowered the prices of the PlayStation 5 in a number of countries, including the UK. According to GfK, because of this, weekly console sales in the British market increased by 75% in units and by 63% in monetary terms.
The demand for the basic version of the PS5 has increased especially strongly. Last week, its unit sales increased by 205%, and sales revenue jumped by 162%. According to analysts, it is necessary to thank for this, in particular, the stores that sold unofficial PS5 bundles with Hogwarts Legacy, LEGO Star Wars and Gran Turismo 7.
Last week was PS5’s third best performance in the UK in 2023. The console sold better only in February against the background of the popularity of the PS5 bundle with God of War: Ragnarök.
