During the summer, the media reported that Microsoft was considering getting rid of Xbox. In a recent interview with The New York Times, the head of the division, Asha Sharma, stated that the corporation actually has no such plans.

During the conversation, Sharma emphasized that Xbox is determined to “do everything possible” to achieve success. To this end, the division is ready to adjust its operational model, seek new partners, and undertake various other initiatives to improve the situation.
Let us recall that the risk of Xbox being sold was reported by The Information in June. According to their sources, Microsoft management was considering the possibility of spinning off Xbox into a fully separate company, which would then allow it to be sold entirely or partially.
A few weeks after The Information's report was released, a restructuring started at Xbox, leading to numerous layoffs and the sale of studios Compulsion Games, Double Fine Productions, and Undead Labs. Additionally, it is possible that Ninja Theory might close soon, and the fate of Arkane Lyon remains uncertain. Nevertheless, Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella has already spoken positively about the changes and stated that he believes in a bright future for Xbox.
