Recently, Epic Games initiated a new lawsuit against Google and Samsung over a feature that prevents installing apps on mobile devices from unauthorized sources. According to David Kleidermacher, the Vice President of Engineering, Security, and Privacy for Android, this lawsuit could seriously harm users.

The specialist shared his opinion on social media. He pointed out that downloading software from unofficial stores carries numerous risks, including personal data theft. According to Kleidermacher, this issue concerns authorities worldwide, but not Epic Games. He is certain that the creators of Fortnite prioritize corporate interests over user safety.

Kleidermacher also mentioned that Google did not request Samsung to create the app auto-blocking feature.

Let us recall that Epic Games accused Google and Samsung of collusion and attempting to protect Google Play from competition. Allegedly, the companies use the auto-blocking feature to intentionally complicate the installation of apps from the Epic Games Store on Samsung smartphones. During a press conference, Epic Games admitted that it has no evidence of collusion but hopes evidence will emerge during the trial.
