The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has announced that the E3 exhibition will not take place in 2023.

According to the organizers, the exhibition did not generate “the sustained interest necessary for it to be held in such a way as to demonstrate the size, strength and influence of our industry.”

In an interview with GamesIndustry, ESA head Stanley Pierre-Louis added that some companies did not have time to prepare demos for E3 because their development schedule changed during the pandemic. In addition, due to the problems in the global economy, some companies have reduced marketing costs and thought about participating in smaller-scale events, including in an online format.

The organizers are not yet ready to say whether E3 will take place in 2024.
