Employees of the universities of Newcastle and Loughborough studied how loot boxes in games affect minors. The findings of the study were not the most positive.

Scientists have stated that it is difficult for children to fight the temptation to buy loot boxes. Young gamers often take their parents’ bank cards without permission and then are ashamed of it. In addition, children are disappointed when they receive unnecessary items from the loot boxes.

Scientists recommended banning the sale of loot boxes to minors and replacing in-game currency with real money.
