Steam users are displeased with the large number of games featuring AI content at the October Steam Next Fest. Some have called on Valve to add a filter to the platform that would allow these projects to be hidden from recommendations.
As IGN pointed out, the discussion unfolded on Reddit. A user with the nickname ScalesGhost suggested expanding the settings of Discovery Queue to exclude games with content created using generative AI. In his opinion, users should also be given the option to hide specific categories of games—such as incremental ones.
The proposal was supported by other participants in the discussion. In particular, a user named EmmaBooney stated that the abundance of AI content has ruined the current Steam Next Fest. Another user, aesoprowwy, expressed hope that the low audience engagement in such projects would prompt Valve to reconsider their promotion approach.
Currently, Steam requires developers to disclose the use of generative AI in certain types of game content. However, users do not have the capability to completely exclude such games from recommendations.
