The sad story of Concord quickly came to an end. An announcement appeared in the official PlayStation blog regarding the cessation of sales and server shutdown for the game.

Concord is no longer available for purchase on the PlayStation Store, Epic Games Store, and Steam. The project will cease operations on September 6th. All game owners on these digital platforms will be offered a refund.

“Although many aspects of the project resonated with players, we also acknowledge that the game and its initial launch didn’t turn out as planned in other respects,” explained Ryan Ellis, the game director.

According to his remarks, it’s too early to speak about the final closure of the game’s story. The company is currently “exploring options, including those that might better engage” the audience. It’s possible that Concord may return in the future as a free-to-play title.

The official launch of Concord, developed by Firewalk Studios, one of Sony’s internal studios as of recent, took place on August 23. The project was a multiplayer hero shooter in the spirit of Overwatch, distributed via a premium model.

The release was extremely unsuccessful for an AAA title (especially a multiplayer one). Concord’s peak online presence on Steam did not even reach a thousand players. The number of copies sold, according to estimates by Simon Carless, was around 25,000.
