Gaming expert Simon Carless found out what percentage of the daily audience of PlayStation, Xbox and Steam accounts for the top games on these platforms. He told about this in the latest GameDiscoverCo newsletter.
▪️Steam
For calculations in the Valve store, Carless used data on the daily online games. It turned out that the top ten most popular titles by the number of simultaneous players in 24 hours are responsible for 48.4% of the total daily online Steam. As of August 11, when the analysis was conducted, the top 10 included CS:GO, DOTA 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, PUBG, Apex Legends, GTA V, Rust, Team Fortress 2, Naraka: Bladepoint and War Thunder. Seven of these games are free.
Games from the top 50 account for 70% of the daily online, and games from the top 1000 account for 94.7% of the daily online.
▪️PlayStation
There is no transparent online data on consoles, as in Steam, so Carless relied on the DAU of games as of August 11. He calculated it using the GameDiscoverCo service.
On PlayStation, the top 10 games account for 52.5% of the total DAU of the platform, and the top 50 – 76% of DAU.
▪️Xbox
On Xbox, the top 10 games are responsible for 46.1% of the platform’s total DAU, and the top 50 are responsible for 70.5% of DAU.
