On June 17, Cygames released the free-to-play card game Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond, a sequel to the popular card game Shadowverse CCG. Although it has already become the 15th most played new release in 2025 on Steam, gamers are dissatisfied with the project.

Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond

As noted by SteamDB, the current peak online for the Steam version of Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond is 108,476 players. This is 4.5 times more than its predecessor. The numbers continue to grow, so the gap between the new and old titles will likely increase significantly.

Regarding the rating on Steam, Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond has garnered 1,800 reviews on the platform, with only 19% being positive. There are two main reasons for criticism: aggressive monetization and balance issues.

Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond was also released on Epic Games Store and mobile devices. At least on smartphones, it also has an active player base. According to AppMagic, the mobile version of this Japanese card game has been downloaded 192,000 times so far.
