A week ago, Supercell released a new game—a mobile action RPG called mo.co. PocketGamer journalists, citing the analytics company Sensor Tower, shared the project's early results.
mo.co
Main Figures:
- In just the first week, mo.co was downloaded just under 2.5 million times;
- The majority of downloads were from the Google Play version—1.6 million. App Store users downloaded the game 850,000 times;
- The highest download activity was seen in Germany, Brazil, and France;
- mo.co's gross revenue for the week was $570,000;
- Although App Store users downloaded mo.co less frequently, they traditionally spent more, accounting for $470,000. The game's revenue from Google Play amounted to $100,000;
- The main revenue markets were the USA, Germany, and France.
By comparison, Supercell's previous game to reach release—Squad Busters—performed much better at launch. According to Sensor Tower, it had 30 million downloads and $11.8 million in gross revenue in its debut week.
However, it's important to remember that Supercell approached the release of mo.co and Squad Busters very differently. While Squad Busters was in soft launch for a long time, mo.co skipped this phase and went straight to global release after closed beta testing. Also, access to mo.co is currently available only by invitation from other users or through a request on the game's website, while Squad Busters had no such restrictions.
