Mobile games will soon cease to be a category that accounts for more than half of App Store users’ spending. According to Sensor Tower’s forecast, already in 2024, non—gaming applications will overtake games at the box office – by about $ 1 billion. And by 2026, the difference will be $21 billion.
For comparison: last year, games were responsible for 61% of all App Store users’ spending ($52 billion).
As for Google Play, the share of revenue from games there will also decrease, but not so significantly. From 78% in 2021 ($36 billion) to 65% in 2026 ($47 billion).
