Razer, the manufacturer of professional accessories for gamers, announced the imminent release of the Razer Phone gaming smartphone. The $700 device will run on the Android platform.
“We have been looking at the mobile market for a long time. Many Razer fans are already passionate about mobile games, so it’s our time to act,” said Razer CEO Min—Liang Tan.
According to the company, Razer Phone will be the world’s first mobile device with a display that supports Ultra Motion technology. It has a variable refresh rate, which allows the screen to slow down the refresh rate to save battery while the smartphone is idle and quickly raise the framerate when necessary. Also, Ultra Motion can synchronize the refresh rate of the screen with the FPS of the game for a smoother animation.
Razer has partnered with Tencent, Bandai Namco and Square Enix to best adapt their titles to the hardware of the device.
Razer Phone sales will start on November 17.
