The dark adventure game INSIDE could have become a temporary PlayStation exclusive if Phil Spencer hadn’t intervened. This was told by the former CEO of the Playdead studio, Dino Patti, as part of the Arkaden podcast.

As Patti recalls, it was important for Playdead to make the INSIDE exclusivity period as short as possible, and Sony didn’t mind that. The companies agreed on everything and were one step away from signing the contract, but one evening Patty personally received a call from the head of Xbox.

According to Patti, Spencer did not want to hear about the deal with Sony and agreed to any conditions. “I can do anything you want,” Spencer told him.

INSIDE was released on Xbox consoles on June 29, 2016. On July 7, she got to the PC, and on August 23 to the PlayStation consoles. Later, the game was also released on Nintendo Switch and iOS.
