Spencer believes that acquisitions with "geographical diversity," such as in Asia, could benefit Microsoft. The company is also interested in acquiring mobile game developers. Spencer did not indicate whether Microsoft has any specific targets in mind.
"We definitely want to be in the market. If we find teams, technologies, and other opportunities that will enhance Microsoft's gaming business, we will certainly keep our eyes open," Spencer stated.
The top manager added that Microsoft wants to diversify its gaming teams and focus more on China. As a successful example of this approach, he cited the mobile game Age of Empires, developed in partnership with TiMi Studios, a subsidiary of Tencent. The game was released in mid-October and earned $14 million in less than a month.
