A representative from Sony Interactive Entertainment clarified to Bloomberg that the changes will affect approximately 210 employees in total.

Concord

Out of these, 172 are from Firewalk Studios, the creators of Concord. There were 38 more employees at Neon Koi, which was working on an unannounced mobile game.

It is worth noting that Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, emphasized in a statement yesterday that the company will attempt to place some employees in other studios within SIE. However, it is unclear if anyone will be able to retain their jobs in the end.

The closure of Firewalk Studios and Neon Koi marks the second wave of mass layoffs in Sony’s gaming division this year. In February, the company laid off 900 employees as part of cost optimization efforts. The layoffs affected studios such as Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, and Guerrilla Games, and London Studio was closed altogether.
