In the announcement of a massive Xbox restructure, Microsoft didn't specify the names of the particular studios where layoffs will occur. However, some information has leaked to the media.

DOOM: The Dark Ages

Specifically, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier found out that Microsoft decided to "significantly" reorganize ZeniMax Media and refocus it on major franchises — Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein. As a result, layoffs will take place in at least three ZeniMax Media subsidiaries — ZeniMax Online Studios, Bethesda Game Studios, and id Software.

Citing its sources, Kotaku reported that ZeniMax Online Studios will lose up to half of its employees. Additionally, 3D Realms co-founder George Broussard wrote on social media that id Software might see the departure of 95 people, which constitutes about a third of its workforce.

Reports also suggest that Obsidian Entertainment will be significantly impacted by the layoffs. Allegedly, about 25% or 60-70 employees, many of whom are seasoned specialists, will be let go. Moreover, according to Kotaku, the studio will implement the cutbacks in several stages: some employees will leave now, and more throughout the year.

Rumors are also swirling about mass layoffs at Activision and its subsidiary, Sledgehammer Games. It is believed that the former will cut 88 jobs, though figures for the latter are not yet available.

It is likely that more information regarding layoffs at Xbox will emerge in the coming days. Considering that a total of 3,200 employees are slated to be let go over the year from the division, this situation may affect many of Microsoft's gaming teams to varying degrees.
