Microsoft Corporation has taken a step towards developers creating games on the Godot engine. It announced the release of a special demonstration project intended to simplify the release of games on the XBOX for PC.

According to Microsoft, the contents of the XBOX Godot Sample cover "85-95%" of the necessary ecosystem functionality. For example, it will allow developers to see in detail how to add support for user identification tools, data storage, statistics collection, multiplayer lobby setup, and much more to Godot games.

It is reported that the XBOX Godot Sample includes explanations on how to use the Game Developer Kit, XBOX services, PlayFab, and Microsoft GameInput.

Microsoft emphasized that its project is exclusively designed for the XBOX ecosystem on PC — it does not account for consoles. Teams wishing to release games on XBOX Series or XBOX One still need to contact the corporation directly.
