Sky News, citing sources, reported that Microsoft plans to cut 5% of the corporation’s staff. It is assumed that the dismissals will be announced in the near future.
According to a number of other media outlets, the dismissals will primarily affect engineering departments and the HR department. In particular, according to Insider, Microsoft intends to cut a third of recruiters and slow down the pace of hiring employees for a year or two.
Microsoft declined to comment to the media on rumors of layoffs.
Update: Microsoft has confirmed the layoffs. Satya Nadella in the official blog of the corporation announced that Microsoft will reduce about 10 thousand people by the end of the third quarter of the 2023 fiscal year.
