He worked at Amazon for eight years.
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported on Christoph Hartmann's departure. According to his sources, the resignation of the top executive is related to strategic changes at Amazon. The company allegedly decided to reduce the funds allocated to console and PC games, choosing instead to focus on the development of its cloud gaming service, Luna.
Whether Hartmann left voluntarily or was dismissed remains unknown. The executive himself has made no statements regarding the matter.
Notably, Hartmann's rumored resignation coincided with a new wave of mass layoffs at Amazon. On January 28, the company announced plans to cut 16,000 jobs.
Hartmann joined Amazon in 2018. Prior to that, he had been involved in the gaming industry for a long time. Specifically, Hartmann was one of the founders of 2K Games and served as Vice President of International Marketing at Take-Two Interactive.
