More than 100 employees of Amazon‘s gaming division have been cut. This happened two weeks after Amazon announced the layoff of 9 thousand people across the company.
The layoffs affected employees of the Prime Gaming and Game Growth departments, as well as developers from a studio in San Diego. In addition to the layoffs, the company transferred some people — their number is not specified — to projects that “meet the strategic goals” of Amazon.
Despite everything, Amazon intends to further develop the gaming direction. She said that the New World team in Irvine and the studio in Montreal will continue to grow, and the studio in San Diego will redouble efforts to develop an unannounced game. In addition, the company sees great potential in the publishing division.
