Russian gaming media outlets "Kanobu" and "Igromania" have changed ownership. They were acquired by the company "IFSI," whose CEO is Vasiliy Ovchinnikov, head of the Video Game Industry Development Organization (VGIDO).

The purchase amount is unknown. However, it has been reported that Ovchinnikov became the CEO of both "Kanobu" and "Igromania," taking over the management of both publications from Gadji Makhtiev. Despite this, Makhtiev remains part of the team, albeit apparently in a different position. Other editorial staff members have retained their jobs as well.

The acquisition is expected to help "Kanobu" and "Igromania" reach the next stage of development. The new owner is already considering the changes needed in the operations of these media outlets. At the same time, he promises to respect their legacy by preserving each of their unique approaches.

"We are committed to helping both media outlets execute their strategies and expand their audiences, including creating new directions and formats. In the case of 'Igromania,' for instance, we are already discussing with the editorial team ways to enhance content by increasing coverage on topics like esports and the Russian video game industry. We are also considering the idea of periodically releasing a print edition and searching for an appropriate format that will be commercially successful. We hope that this innovation will be positively received by our community," commented Ovchinnikov on the acquisition.
