Analysts from Niko Partners studied the platform preferences of gamers from Japan and South Korea. They discovered that a significant portion of these gamers play on more than one platform.

- To begin with, as of December 2023, there were a total of 96.3 million gamers in Japan and South Korea.
- Currently, 39% of Japanese gamers and 58% of South Korean gamers play on at least two platforms.
- Compared to last year, the share of Japanese mobile gamers who also play on PC or consoles has increased by 30 basis points to 70%.
- The share of South Korean PC gamers who play on multiple platforms has increased by 5 basis points to 90% over the year.
- More than half of the top 10% most popular games in Japan and South Korea are available on at least two platforms.
- The study also reports that 31% of Japanese gamers and 40% of South Korean gamers occasionally watch game streams. The most popular video platform for game-related content in Asia is YouTube. Local platforms such as SOOP in South Korea and NicoNico in Japan are also very popular.
