The digital video game store Kartridge from Kongregate promises to give developers 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the title until the product earns $ 10 thousand. The condition applies to games released only on Kartridge.
This is stated in the Kongregate blog.
Benefits for Kartridge exclusives also include a reduced commission on initial revenue from $ 10 thousand to $ 40 thousand. Within this amount, the platform will take only 10% of the revenue. The standard commission on Kartridge is 30%.
Kongregate CEO Emily Greer explained that this is how the company wants to help independent developers make money faster by selling games.
Initially, the Kartridge offer was conceived as a temporary promo for the launch of the platform. They wanted to finish it in October of this year.
But the developers liked the idea of a grace period for published games so much that the company decided to make the promotion indefinite.
Kartridge will launch in open beta mode this summer.
